School hosting parenting classes

A series of parenting classes will be held at Sippican Elementary School on Nov. 5, 12, 19, and 26, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. each night. The classes will be run by James Fitzpatrick, a licensed independent clinical social worker with many years working in the Westwood school system, said Lyn Rivet, Sippican principal. Fitzpatrick will discuss the stages of children’s development, effective and ineffective discipline methods, and various philosophies of parenting. “As parents we try to do our best but don’t always hit the nail on the head,” Rivet said. “Jim has his own parenting experiences and immense background on strategies for parenting that work best.” The fee for the four-week program is $25, with proceeds benefiting the school’s parent-teacher organization. Enrollment is not limited to town residents. For information and registration, call 508-748-0100.
