Farmers Market stays put through 2015

Though Quincy’s downtown revitalization will eventually push the Farmers Market to a new location, developers said the market will remain in place through the 2015 season. At a recent City Council meeting, Street-Works co-founder Richard Heapes said the market will be at John Hancock Municipal Parking Lot until it moves to a dedicated space to be named “Market Square.” “If something comes up where that is challenged, it’s our obligation to find them a place where they can connect their business with the same customers,” Heapes said. “That would be a critical component.” The news came as a surprise to Farmers Market manager Janet Little, who has concerns over parking. City officials said parking might be tight due to the development, but they would deal with problems as they arise. The market is open from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Fridays from June through mid-November.
