Public forum on proposed police gun range

A public forum on a proposed police gun range that would be located near baseball fields on town-owned land at the north end of Lingan Street will be held at 8 p.m. Nov. 12 at Town Hall. “We’re just trying to give everybody more time to comment,” said Town Administrator Charlie Seelig. Police Chief Ted Broderick proposed the gun range to replace the cost of training at other gun ranges. Seelig said the gun range would be located in a natural depression on the property that would make it very difficult for a bullet to go astray, and would be used only by police and only for limited hours. Discussions are focused on creating a warning system when the gun range is in use and making sure activities on the ball fields and the gun range don’t conflict, Seelig said.
