Crop Production Services in Carver, a franchise of a national company, is seeking a waiver of the town’s code requirement for a sprinkler system in large commercial buildings. The company wants to move its operation, which supplies fertilizers and pesticides to commercial growers, from its site on Plymouth Street to a 3.5-acre site on Marion Drive in North Carver. Carver cranberry growers are among Crop Production Services’s customers, said Town Planner Jack Hunter. But the national firm is balking at the cost of a sprinkler system for fire protection in the new building, contending that it faces such a requirement only in Massachusetts, Hunter said. The Planning Board will hold a public hearing for its site plan review Tuesday at Town Hall.
