Students receive commendations

Three Bridgewater-Raynham Regional High School students have received letters of commendation from the National Merit Scholarship Program, according to Patricia Riley, chairwoman of the reginal school committee. Nina Colombotos, Vanessa Demaral, and Jonathon Nessralla were recognized for their high scores on the Preliminary SAT, which is the qualifying exam for the program. Of the 1.5 million students nationwide who take the test each year, 50,000 qualify for recognition, according to the program website. Approximately two-thirds receive letters of commendation; one-third, the top scorers in each state, advance to compete for the National Merit Scholarship.
