Library day: The Abington Public Library is celebrating its third annual “Take Your Child to the Library Day” on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Events include a story time at 11 a.m. with silly stories and songs for children ages up to 5, and a family movie at 2:30 p.m. or 781-982-2139.


Recruitment rally: Brockton’s Promise will host its sixth annual Mentor Recruitment Rally on Thursday at the Shaw’s Center from 5:30 to 8 p.m. The event is focused on recognizing outstanding work in the field of mentoring and recruiting adults to mentor children in the community. CANTON Woody Allen play: The Milton Players will present a Woody Allen comedy, “Don’t Drink the Water,” starting Friday at 8 p.m. and continuing through Feb. 9 at the Massachusetts Hospital School. The play tells the story of a New Jersey caterer and his family who take refuge in an American embassy behind the Iron Curtain after being accused of spying. For tickets visit or call 617-698-7469.


Mango Day: The Duxbury Free Library will introduce residents to the free, online language-learning system called Mango on Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Users will learn how to have a conversation in the language of their choice using real life situations and audio from native speakers with simple, clear instructions. Collections program: The Marion Natural History Museum is having an after-school program Wednesday from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. “Collections” aims to have people get together, share their natural history collections, and visit the museum’s collections. $4 for members and $6 for nonmembers. Travel lecture: The Ventress Memorial Library will host a lecture with a virtual tour of the Channel Islands by veteran traveler Heide Hasselmann from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. The lecture will detail the history of the islands located between England and France. or 781-834-5535.

Musical auditions: Auditions for Priscilla Beach Theatre’s adult production of “You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown” will be held on Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m. at 800 Rocky Rill Road.
