    Computer open house: The Senior Computer Learning Center is holding an open house at the Abington Council on Aging on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to noon to introduce computer training classes to students aged 50 and older. The classes are low-cost and include Intro to PC, MS Word, Genealogy, Digital Photo, iPad, Ebay, Windows 7/8, and more. or 508-521-4008.


    Food pantry fund-raiser: The First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church is inviting the public for a meal of soup and bread on Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. For a donation of $10, people will receive a meal and a hand-painted bowl as a reminder of the good work the food pantry does to address and prevent hunger. or 508-378-4836.



    Black History program: The Brockton Public Library is hosting a double feature Black History Program on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. A screening of the movie “Ruby Bridges” will precede a panel discussion about personal experiences or family stories about the Civil Rights Movement. It will be hosted by Ossie Jordan, of Brockton’s National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. Paintings illustrated by local artist Hilton Parham will be on display. Light refreshments will be served.

    Coffeehouse performance: The Open Book Coffeehouse will showcase live, acoustic music on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Canton Public Library. Folk singer and songwriter Ana Egge will kick off its 9th consecutive season. Doors open at 6:45 p.m. and admission is $10, $5 for students. or 781-828-6606.


    Valentine’s Day: The Children’s Museum in Easton is hosting an art studio for children to make a creative gift for someone special in Valentine’s Day colors of red, pink, and white. All activities are free with admission of $9. or 508-230-3789.



    Guitar concert: Classical guitarist José Lezcano and harpist Franziska Huhn will give a free performance at the Hingham Public Library on Feb. 16 at 3 p.m. Seating begins at 2:30 p.m. or 781-804-2600.


    10K race: The South Shore Race Management and Bayside Runner will hold the 2d annual Frozen Pilgrim 10K on Feb. 16 at 9 a.m. The race begins and ends at The Boys and Girls Club. Race participants can register online through Friday or in person on race day beginning at 7:30 a.m. The race will raise funds for the Kurt Giessler Foundation for Youth Achievement.     Cuba talk: The Crane Library is hosting a presentation from Nalda Vigezzi, co-chair of the Nation Network on Cuba, on what is happening in Cuba today on Tuesday at 7 p.m. This talk coincides with an art exhibit of Cuban Political Posters. or 617-376-1316.


    Acoustic performance: The Unitarian Church of Sharon is hosting a Not Just Another Coffeehouse featuring The BBQ Boys, a six-member acoustic ensemble that plays a mix of country blues, bluegrass, Celtic, oldies, unplugged rock, and more, on Saturday at 7 p.m. Admission is $10 or whatever you can afford. or 781-784-3652.
