School music program analyzed

An expert in music education reviewed the Weymouth public schools’ music program last month and is expected to present her report and recommendations to the School Committee at its Feb. 27 meeting, according to Superintendent Kenneth Salim. Sandra Nicolucci of Boston University’s College of Fine Arts was in the Weymouth schools for three days in early January, meeting with students, staff, and parents and observing classes. An authority on music education, she was involved with developing state standards for arts curriculum and is also a composer of music for children. Before joining Boston University, she taught music education at Boston Conservatory and led the music programs in the Newton, Brookline, and Wellesley public schools.
