    What does melanoma look like?

    Warning signs

Melanomas can start in a mole that is already present on the skin or can begin as a new spot, then grow larger and deeper over time. The Melanoma Foundation offers these ABCDE signs of melanoma, and advises anyone who notices changes in the color, shape, or size of moles to be checked by a doctor.
