State budget hearing in town Monday

On Monday, Hanover will become the eighth community across the state to host a legislative hearing on Governor Deval Patrick’s proposed $36.4 billion budget for the fiscal year that begins July 1. The Legislature’s Joint Ways and Means Committee will hear testimony focusing on economic issues like business and work force development, as well as housing, libraries, and cultural council funding. Hanover’s state legislators, Representative Rhonda Nyman and Senator Thomas Kennedy, are members of the committee. The event is open to the public, and will begin at 10 a.m. at the South Shore Vocational Technical School.
