Westwood voters elect new selectman
Twenty percent of the town’s voters turned out for the April 26 election, picking John Hickey as the new selectman. Hickey, a lawyer, received 1,151 votes — 54 percent of the total — to defeat William Delay for the open three-year spot on the three-member board. Delay had 663 votes and there were 328 blanks, according to the town clerk’s office. In the School Committee race, Anthony Mullin received 35 percent of the ballots, or 1,495 votes, to get a three-year seat on the board. Incumbent Carol Sue Lewis was reelected with 1,084 votes. Incumbent John J. O’Brien Jr. lost with 905 votes, and there were 812 blanks. In the three-person race for two seats on the Planning Board, David L. Atkins Jr. won a spot with 1,344 votes, as did Michael McCusker with 859. Candidate Brian Gorman got 773 votes.
