Where do you see yourself in five years? The Holbrook Public Library is asking itself that question and seeking patrons’ ideas, as it prepares a long-range plan that will allow the library to apply for grants from the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.

The library has not applied in years, according to library director Donald Colon, who joined the staff in January.

The library is hosting two community forums, on Aug. 17 and Sept. 21, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the library.

Those who attend should attend both, and should call the library in advance or e-mail Colon at dcolon@ocln.org, he said.

For patrons who cannot attend, the library is conducting a written survey, available at www.holbrookpubliclibrary.org, probably through September, he said.

For his part, Colon said he would like to see the library add more programs for teens and adults, increase its staff in order to open six days a week instead of five, and do more cooperative work with other town departments, including the Council on Aging and Recreation Commission.
