Freetown has a new town administrator, after its Board of Selectmen appointed David DeManche to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Jack Healey in June.
An Uxbridge resident, DeManche was among 23 applicants and seven finalists for the position. Selectmen chose him by a unanimous vote after interviewing all of the finalists.
DeManche, who began work on Sept. 25, brings more than 18 years experience in local and state government, most recently as Plymouth’s director of community development for the past year.
His previous positions include serving as town administrator in Millbury and Carlisle, interim town administrator in Uxbridge, town coordinator in Bolton, chief administrative and financial officer in Lunenburg, and a legislative assistant.
DeManche has a bachelor’s degree with honors from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and a master’s degree in business administration from Clark University.John Laidler can be reached at email@example.com.
