School Committee candidates’ night is Oct. 16

Quincy voters will have the opportunity to learn more about the people vying for three School Committee seats and meet them during an upcoming candidates’ night.

The Quincy Public Schools’ Citywide Parents’ Council is hosting the moderated debate and meet-and-greet beginning at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 16 at Central Middle School, 875 Hancock St.

There are six candidates running for three seats, including incumbent Emily Lebo. The others are Anthony J. Andronico, Douglas S. Gutro, David Andrew Jacobs, Geraldine A. Manning, and Mark A. Sauter.


Andronico is stressing improving technical and career education, Gutro has children in the district and is a former city councilor who ran for mayor, Jacobs is a teacher in Boston, Lebo was director of Quincy’s career and technical education programs, Manning is emphasizing improving curriculum to make students ready for the modern workforce, and Sauter is a lawyer who works in federal immigration enforcement and is president of the Merrymount Association.

The election will be held Nov. 7, when voters will also select the winners for ward and at-large City Council seats.
