Council on Aging seeks new director

Marion officials are seeking a new leader for the Council on Aging.

Heather Sylvia, who had been Council on Aging director for the past year and a half, resigned effective Oct. 17 to assume the same position in the town of Acushnet, according to Marion Town Administrator Paul Dawson.

The Council on Aging operates senior programs in the Benjamin Cushing Community Center on Mill Street.

The town advertised for a new director and is accepting applications through Nov 30. A screening committee will review the applications and recommend finalists to the Board of Selectmen.

Karen Gregory, the Council on Aging’s program director, is serving as interim director during the search.

Prior to assuming the director’s job in Marion, Sylvia had headed the Council on Aging in Dartmouth.

Dawson said Marion hopes to have its new director in place by the first of next year.
