More than 100 people benefitted from the “Weymouth Clothing Giveaway ” held at the town’s Tufts Library on Oct. 28, carrying away bags of free coats, shirts, pants, suits, dresses, and Halloween costumes. “Others took clothing to help with the elderly in nursing homes,” said organizer Lisa Belmarsh. “Everything is free. No costs. You take whatever you need.” Items not taken in the town’s third annual clothing giveaway went to various nonprofits.
In an effort to boost Quincy Center’s burgeoning restaurant scene, the city announced that more than 600 parking spaces will be made available for free to all after 6 p.m. The restaurants “are doing very well, and we want to keep it that way,” said Chris Walker, the mayor’s spokesman. He said the participating parking lots -- Ross, Hannon, Hancock, and Quincy District Court -- are all within walking distance of downtown.
Dedham’s Legacy Place recently announced that eight new stores and restaurants will open at the mall by the end of this year. The new tenants include furniture store Boston Interiors, coffee shop Caffè Nero, Sweetgreens, and women apparel retailer Ku De Ta.
Norwood American Job Center has opened at 32 Day St. The job center, operated by Connecticut-based Career TEAM, offers interviewing workshops, job search strategies, financial literacy, and time management.
