Town looking to appoint a health agent

Raynham is looking for a new health agent, a position that became vacant last April when David Flaherty, at the time health agent and assistant town manager, became interim town manager.

The town administrator’s post had become vacant due to the retirement that month of Randall Buckner.

Selectman Joseph R. Pacheco said that selectmen decided at that time that they would evaluate Flaherty’s performance as interim town administrator to determine whether to appoint him to the permanent position.

In the event they opted to name someone else to the job, Flaherty would return to his prior positions as health agent and assistant town administrator.

Pacheco said the selectmen have not yet made any determination regarding appointment of a permanent town administrator. But he said they decided to appoint a permanent health agent now because Sarah Holt, who had been holding the position on an interim basis, resigned about a month ago due to her moving out of state.

Holt had previously been health inspector.

Flaherty was appointed health inspector in 2013 and assistant town administrator in 2015.

The town has advertised for the health agent’s position and is continuing to accept applications.
