Foxborough Town Meeting will consider a ban on recreational marijuana businesses in the town, as well as prohibitions on rail yards, truck terminals, self-storage warehouses, and other similar activities in the downtown.
The proposed downtown zoning change also would keep truck terminals, motor vehicle repair shops, automobile storage and auction facilities, and overnight parking or outdoor storage for buses, trucks, and other vehicles weighing more than 10,000 pounds, out of the business district.
“Those uses are not compatible with our vision for the downtown at all,” said planning director Paige Duncan.
She said the plan is to make the downtown business area “vibrant, lively, and walkable: the social, cultural, and civic heart of the community” filled with restaurants and shops and development that is “compatible with the scale, character, and architecture of Foxborough’s historic and rural patterns.”
The Dec. 4 special Town Meeting also will consider a request from selectmen to file special legislation requiring the state to reimburse communities for 100 percent of a charter school’s cost to the local school district. There is a charter school located in Foxborough.firstname.lastname@example.org
