Foxborough Town Meeting voted Dec. 4 to allow alcoholic beverage sales on Sundays and legal holidays, but banned all recreational marijuana business from town.
The Meeting also voted to allow selectmen to file special legislation that would require the state to reimburse communities for “100 percent” of a charter school’s cost to a local school district. There is a charter school in Foxborough, and local officials claim they do not receive the full cost of students who choose to go there instead of the district’s schools.
Town Meeting also voted to change zoning in the downtown business district to outlaw uses usually associated with industrial areas – including truck terminals, motor vehicle repair shops, rail and automobile storage, switching yards, automobile auction facilities, and overnight parking or outdoor storage for buses, trucks and other vehicles weighing more than 10,000 pounds.
Planning Director Paige Duncan had argued that the uses weren’t compatible with the town’s vision for downtown, which calls for a “vibrant, lively and walkable” town email@example.com
