US Representative Tim Ryan of Ohio will be taking part in a Newton Community Education program on mindfulness at 7 p.m. Monday at Newton South High School. Ryan will be discussing his new book, “A Mindful Nation: How a Simple Practice Can Help Us Reduce Stress, Improve Performance, and Recapture the American Spirit,” and share stories of how he first encountered mindfulness, and what he continues to encounter and learn while traveling the country, according to an announcement on the program. The event is a collaborative effort by Newton Community Education, the University of Massachusetts Medical School’s Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society, and Harvard Pilgrim Health Care. Tickets are $10; for more information or to register for the talk, call 617-559-6999, or visit www.newtoncommunityed.org.
