Nominations for an Outstanding Youth of Shrewsbury Award close on Friday. Last-minute nominations can be made by phone or by e-mail. The award, sponsored by Shrewsbury Youth & Family Services Inc., a private, nonprofit human services agency and the primary provider of social services for Shrewsbury families, will be presented on Feb. 9 at the group’s 30th anniversary gala. Any student in grades 9 through 12 who is a resident of Shrewsbury can be nominated. The student does not have to attend school in Shrewsbury, nor does the student’s volunteer work have to be in Shrewsbury to be considered. Four students will be selected for this award and each will receive a certificate of recognition as well as a cash prize. To nominate a teen by phone, call Jeffrey Chin at 508-845-6932 or e-mail him at jchin@townisp.com. More information is available on the agency’s website, www.syfs-ma.org.
