Fill police wagon with Toys for Tots

On Saturday, the Shrewsbury police patrol officers’ union is running its first  “Fill the Wagon” Toys for Tots collection, with activities for whole family. New, unwrapped toys can be dropped off at the police station, 106 Maple Ave., from 9 a.m. to noon. Gifts are needed for children of all ages, from infants to teens, according to Officer David Faucher, one of the Local 426 event’s organizers. “Our goal is to fill the police wagon, and so we need all the help we can from the public,” Faucher said. Several Shrewsbury police officers and their families will be on hand to give out hot chocolate throughout the morning. Visitors will also be able to climb inside a police car and run the lights and sirens. Santa will be there, too, adding to his own list of good girls and boys while he collects the donated gifts. The event, run in collaboration with the Marine Corps annual Toys for Tots campaign, has received support from Shrewsbury businesses, and organizers say the need this year is substantial. For more information, contact Faucher at 508-841-8577.
