Voters OK Moseley-Goff purchase

In an election characterized by an unusually small turnout, townspeople voted 198 to 48 in favor of raising taxes through a Proposition 2½ override to help pay for the purchase of the Moseley-Goff property on Bedford Road. The vote finalized the measure’s approval at Town Meeting last month. The sale, at $590,000, is expected to close in late April, with $190,000 coming from the town’s free cash fund and $400,000 bonded over 20 years. The 5-acre parcel will be overseen by the town’s Affordable Housing Trust, which wants to use it for a group residence under the aegis of the state’s Department of Developmental Services.
