Letter on ALICE story

Regarding your article about ALICE (“ALICE: Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evauate,” Globe West, Dec. 6), how typical of our culture that we refuse to address the source of the problem (the ease of acquiring guns), and instead put the responsibility on potential victims to learn how to protect themselves.

This program somehow reminds me of my childhood, when we were taught to protect ourselves from nuclear attack by ducking under our school desks, and covering our heads.
