Business park is shopping for new name

Got a catchy new moniker for the New England Business Center? The Board of Selectmen will hold a public hearing Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in Town Hall so residents can float their ideas to help rebrand the business park next to Interstate 95 as a booming technology center. Special Town Meeting on Dec. 3 approved a tax break to lure the online travel company TripAdvisor LLC to move from Newton to Needham. It’s all part of an effort to turn the quiet park into a high-tech hub, and the next step is a new name, with the goal to identify the area as a “distinct Needham neighborhood.” Good naming options include using “Needham” alongside a one- or two-syllable word modifying it, according to the town’s website. So far, ideas include Needham Crossing, Needham Highlands, Needham Point, and Needham Edge, according to the posting at www.needhamma.gov. Written comments will be accepted until Dec. 31, and can be submitted to the selectmen’s office in Town Hall or by e-mail at selectmen@needhamma.gov.
