Biotech industry gives city top marks

Local officials recently announced that the city has been given a “platinum’’ rating by the Massachusetts Biotechnology Council, signifying that it is welcoming and suitable for companies in the biotechnology industry. Only 7 percent of communities in Massachusetts have received the rating, officials say. Tim Cummings, director of operations for the Marlborough Economic Development Corporation, said in the announcement that he was pleased with the news. “Biotech companies have found our area to be convenient for attracting talent and setting up the space they need,” he said. “These companies are a nice complement to the diverse range of businesses that consider Marlborough home.”
