Police hosting blood-donation event

The Police Department will host an American Red Cross blood-donation event on Dec. 31 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., according to the department’s website. Donors must be over 17 years old (or 16 years old with a signed parental consent form), in good health, and over 110 pounds. Anyone donating blood will receive a coupon for a free appetizer or dessert from Chili’s Grill and Bar, according to the department’s posting online. The blood drive will take place in the first-floor conference room at police headquarters, at 552 Main St. To make an appointment or for information, call 800-733-2767 or visit www.redcrossblood.org.
