Quilting group to meet next Sunday

Have a New Year’s resolution to do something more productive with your free time? The Schoolhouse Quilters will be meeting next Sunday  from 1:30 to 4 p.m. at the Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church, 34 Prospect St. The gathering will feature a talk by Joanne Romagosa, whose topic is “Fat quarter fun.” No, this isn’t a dieting lecture. A fat quarter is a versatile piece of fabric covering one-fourth of a yard, usually measuring 18 by 22 inches. Beginners can find a wide assortment of fat quarters, precut and packaged in a variety of colors and patterns, at fabric shops for about $2. For the group’s meeting next weekend, participants should bring two fat quarters for use. The Schoolhouse Quilters group, which first met in 1980, works on projects for its members as well as for donations and fund-raisers. The 50 or more members meet once a month from September to June to have coffee, work on quilts, and talk. The first meeting is free. Annual dues are $25. For a full meeting schedule, visit www.schoolhousequilters.info . For more information, send an e-mail to info@schoolhousequilters.info.
