Annual hazardous waste day

Raynham has scheduled its annual hazardous waste-collection day for June 15. It will be the only such collection in 2013, and because the town has a limited budget for disposal, the event will end if collections reach the limit, according to Courtney Saunders, public works specialist in the Highway Department. Materials will be accepted for free at the department, at 1555 King Philip St., beginning at 8 a.m. Proof of residency, such as a driver’s license or vehicle registration, is required. Accepted materials include batteries, latex and oil paints, poisons, pool chemicals, propane cylinders, stains, transmission fluid, and waste fuel. Some items are prohibited, such as ammunition and syringes. Residents with questions about specific items may call the Highway Department at 508-824-2718.
