Selectmen have big shoes to fill


Selectmen are expected on March 25 to begin discussing how to fill the soon-to-be vacant executive assistant position. At their meeting last week, board members paid tribute to Paul Blazar, who will retire July 4 after 26 years with the town. Selectmen have not yet indicated their next steps, but communities often create search committees or hire search firms to identify candidates. The executive assistant is the chief fiscal officer and chief administrative officer for the town, and is responsible for the management and coordination of most town departments.
