Grants available for home repairs

The Bedford Municipal Affordable Housing Trust is accepting applications for grants to help income-eligible residents make repairs and alterations to their homes for safety and health reasons. The program provides grants of up to $3,000 for minor plumbing or electrical work, window repairs, fixing broken or clogged gutters or downspouts, and replacement locks, among other projects. Criteria for eligibility include Bedford residency, an income no higher than 80 percent of the area’s median income, and an assessed home value lower than 120 percent of the town’s median assessed value. Applicants have until the end of April to submit paperwork. For more information, contact Assistant Town Manager Jessica Porter at 781-275-1111. Applications are available at the town manager’s office, the Bedford Public Library, and the Council on Aging office.
