Town cleanup, shredding event April 27

The town’s Sustainable Green Committee will hold its fifth annual Spring Green-Up Day on April 27 starting at 9 a.m. on the town common. This year’s event will not only give the town a spring cleaning, but the committee is also offering a new service for residents: paper shredding. Harvey’s will park a large shredding truck at the Center School from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for residents to drop off paper for shredding and recycling. No books or magazines will be accepted, and all metal from hanging file folders and spiral bound notebooks must be removed. Staples and paper clips do not need to be removed. To take part in the cleanup day, residents are asked to grab a pair of gloves and garbage bags and head to the town common, where cleanup crews will be organized. Residents can also focus their efforts on an area of their choosing, but should notify the committee of their plans to avoid duplications.
