Town offers deal on rain barrels

The town is working with a Boston-based company to offer rain barrels to residents at a discount. The goal is to encourage residents to use the barrels to help conserve water by capturing runoff for use on their yard and garden. The polyethylene products offered by the Great American Rain Barrel Co. are manufactured in the United States from recycled materials, the company says. The 60-gallon barrels, which are 39 inches tall and weigh 20 pounds when empty, are being sold for the discounted price of $65, compared with a suggested retail price of $119. Barrels will be on display at the Westborough Public Library and Town Hall. Orders must be placed by April 28, and barrels will be available for pickup at the Department of Public Works yard on Oak Street on May 6 through May 10.
