Work to snarl Route 85 traffic


Road crews will be replacing the intersection of Washington and Broad streets with a roundabout this week, with the work possibly extending through next week. Kerin Shea, the town’s community and economic development assistant, said drivers should seek alternate routes or plan time for a delay. “It’s going to be a lot of work, and a lot of detours and backups,” Shea said. The roundabout is part of an $11 million state project to reconstruct nearly 2 miles of Washington Street (Route 85) between downtown and the Marlborough line.
