Firefighters seek new ladder truck

Since November, when the Fire Department’s aerial ladder truck was taken out of service due to its age and condition, local firefighters have had to rely on equipment from surrounding towns to reach upper-story windows during an emergency. In a recent report to the town, the Fire Department recommended the purchase of a new ladder truck. Acknowledging the town’s limited finances, the report suggests selling parts of the old ladder truck for scrap to help offset the price of the new vehicle. A fact sheet supporting the department’s request has been posted online at www.townofberlin.com.
