Event examines race in Boston, past and future

Speaking in Newton on Sunday at a fund-raiser for the nonprofit organization Union of Minority Neighborhoods, former governor Michael Dukakis recalled Boston’s complicated history of racial tension.

“This was a tough town,” he said. “It was a racially divided town. It was a religiously divided town. It was an angry city. It was a declining city.”
