Medical marijuana, tax break on warrant

Special Town Meeting will convene at 7:30 p.m. Monday in Cary Memorial Hall to consider a moratorium on allowing medical marijuana treatment centers in the town, and possible tax incentives for a biotech company that is considering opening a location in town. The moratorium, one of four articles on the warrant, would give town officials until July 31, 2014, to develop zoning regulations for the medical marijuana facilities. The tax increment financing agreement on the warrant would provide tax credits for UniQure, a Netherlands-based biotech company that is looking at two sites on Hartwell Avenue as possible locations for a new facility.
