Farm to host summer camps

Medway Community Farm will hold a series of weeklong camps this summer. Children entering kindergarten through fourth grade can experience “fun on the farm,” helping take care of chickens, harvesting produce, building compost piles, playing games, and participating in other activities. The program runs weekly from July 8 through the week of Aug. 12 at the farm, 50 Winthrop St. In addition, students entering grades 5 through 8 can be “farmers in training,” learning the ins and outs of running a small vegetable farm. Participants will work alongside the farm team and an experienced intern to learn about the specifics skills needed to produce crops from seed to harvest. This session will be offered the weeks of July 15 and 22. All programs will run from 9 a.m. to noon and cost $100 per week. To sign up, call Medway Community Education at 508-533-3222, option 4, or e-mail communityed@medway.k12.ma.us . For more information, visit www.medwaycommunityfarm.org .
