State seeks details on bikeway link

The town’s acting Department of Public Works director, Adrienne St. John, recently updated the Bicycle Advisory Committee on efforts to connect the Minuteman Bikeway terminus at Loomis Street and South Road with the Reformatory Branch segment on Railroad Avenue. Trail users have been lobbying for the connection over the past several years, and Bedford voters approved $210,000 in Community Preservation Act funding for the purpose three years ago. The project would create a continuous path to the Concord town line, and would also add pavement to the Reformatory Branch section. The state’s Department of Transportation has requested a traffic count and a summary of interviews from businesses along Railroad Avenue before approving the project.
