Town, statewide elections Tuesday

Voters will be asked to decide three proposals to raise property taxes in a special town election on Tuesday, when a statewide special election for US Senate is also being held. The local ballot has requests for $160,000 to buy a dump truck; $20,000 to cover Department of Public Works wages for the fiscal year starting July 1 ; and $8,503 to fund town collector wages for fiscal year 2014. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the first-floor conference room in the Town Offices, 7 Keady Way. To view a sample ballot listing the three questions, visit the town’s website, www.shirley-ma.gov .
