Town staffers seek summer hours

Selectmen are expected Tuesday to consider a request by Town Hall employees to work an altered schedule during the summer months. The staff members hope to make Fridays a partial or a full day off, in exchange for working more hours earlier in the week. Currently, most departments at Town Hall are open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Selectmen discussed the request at their June 18 meeting, but they asked the interim town administrator, Kevin Sweet, to gather figures on how much money might be saved by closing Town Hall on Fridays, and when residents utilize Town Hall the most. The board meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
