Northborough

Path clears for aqueduct trail

The Board of Selectmen has unanimously voted to approve a permit for the town to open the Wachusett Aqueduct to the public, creating a new trail for recreational use. Trails Committee chairman Bob Mihalek has been working with the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority, which owns the aqueduct corridor, to come up with a plan for the local 4.2-mile portion for more than a year. The MWRA will still be responsible for maintaining the land, and the town will be responsible for placing signs along the aqueduct trail, which the committee hopes to open this fall.
