Democratic state Representative Jennifer Benson of Lunenburg is encouraging residents in her district to apply for funding through the Citizens Bank Foundation’s Growing Communities initiative. The foundation will award up to $150,000 in grants ranging from $15,000 to $50,000 for projects that contribute to the resiliency of neighborhoods by fostering economic growth. Applications may include efforts for neighborhood revitalization in distressed communities, support for local economic activity, creation of small businesses, job creation, and other creative and collaborative responses to make a neighborhood a better place to live and work. The application deadline is Sept. 19. Benson’s district includes Ayer, Boxborough, Harvard, Shirley, and parts of Acton. For more information, e-mail magrowingcommunities@citizensbank.com.
