Rival candidates gear up for Nov. 5

The ballot for the Nov. 5 city election has only three contests, with Mayor Arthur Vigeant and the four at-large City Council members all running unopposed for reelection. Four candidates will vie for three seats on the School Committee, with incumbents Michelle B. Bodin-Hettinger and Mark E. Hediger joined on the ballot by Earl J. Geary and Denise E. Ryan. Paul R. Ferro and Robert D. Page will face off for the open Ward 2 City Council seat, and John J. Irish and Carlos Valadares are competing for the open Ward 5 seat.
