Waltham-based food writer Tammy Donroe will unveil her recipe book chock full of winter-based desserts at 7 p.m. Oct. 25 at Back Pages Books, 289 Moody St. Donroe’s “Wintersweet: Seasonal Desserts to Warm the Home” concentrates on using fresh, local ingredients to concoct tasty delectables for the holiday season. She also provides resources for finding the best local farmers markets and agricultural centers. Donroe attended the Cambridge School of Culinary Arts before working at Cook’s Illustrated magazine and its television spin-off, “America’s Test Kitchen,” and Boston magazine.
