Forum on town’s future

The town’s Community and Economic Development Authority will host a public forum next Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in the Town Hall auditorium to discuss the town’s needs and a strategy for meeting them. The latest initiatives have included streetscape improvements downtown, new lighting in Onset, and a housing rehabilitation program that helps low-income residents fix up their homes. Salvador Pina, director of the authority, said the purpose of the meeting is to get feedback from residents, discuss ways to make Wareham more attractive to businesses and visitors, and answer the question: “What are the assets we have in town, and how do we use those to build our community and draw private dollars to the table?” The town will use input from the meeting to apply for a community development block grant, he said.
