Community Fund seeks donations

The Wayland Community Fund, which started its fiscal year with a number of requests from residents for help paying utility bills and rents, is seeking donations from the community. The fund has distributed more than $8,000, and the volume of requests for assistance is expected to increase over the winter, according to chairman Mike Patterson. Each year, the fund spends about $40,000, with money also going toward short-term help with medical costs, food, clothing, and a variety of other items. To donate, send a check to the Wayland Community Fund care of the treasurer’s office at the Town Building, 41 Cochituate Road.
