Library to host local poet Burt

Local poet and Harvard University professor Stephen Burt will speak at the Belmont Public Library at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday about his latest book, “Belmont: Poems,” a collection that deals with themes of adulthood, fatherhood, and life in the suburbs. The event is part of an author series sponsored by the Friends of the Belmont Public Library, an independent nonprofit organization that promotes library programs and services. Burt teaches English at Harvard, and is the author of three poetry collections and several books of criticism. Copies of his book will be for sale Tuesday at the library, at 336 Concord Ave.
