Special Town Meeting convenes Monday

Voters at Special Town Meeting on Monday night will decide, among other things, whether to spend $728,793 from the capital expenditure fund for a range of items for town departments and the schools. They include two police vehicles, police weapons, a new Fire Department pumper engine, computer hardware and software, a new ambulance, and maintenance at the Flagg Building and schools. Money to pay for the ambulance would also come from the ambulance account, and some of the cost of the fire engine would be covered by a short-term loan, according to the warrant. Other articles on the warrant include a proposal to combine the highway and water departments under a single department of public works, and a proposal to raise the fine for unregistered dogs from $25 to $50. Special Town Meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m. at Holliston High School.
