McCarthy president of Mass. Mayors’ Association

Waltham Mayor Jeannette McCarthy was elected president of the Massachusetts Mayors’ Association during the organization’s annual meeting last weekend, according to officials. The association is a member group of the Massachusetts Municipal Association, the statewide nonprofit, nonpartisan advocacy organization for cities and towns. McCarthy was elected by her fellow mayors to lead the Mayors’ Association, which meets regularly throughout the year so that the state’s mayors can discuss major issues facing cities and towns, including local aid, transportation, education, economic development, and job creation. As part of her new position, McCarthy will also serve as a member of the association’s board of directors, and on the statewide Local Government Advisory Commission, which meets throughout the year with top state leaders to discuss issues facing local municipalities.
